Egon Schiele: Death and The Maiden

The life story of an Austrian provocative painter who is considered as one of the most renowned artists of the 20th century and who lived for 28 years is displayed in the film Egon Schiele: Death and the Virgin. Egon Schiele is regarded as a pioneer of expressionist art with his deformed lines and expressive style. The artist’s life displays his love for her sister Gerti, who inspires his paintings, also his model, Wally, who is considered as a muse for his famous work titled ‘Death and the Virgin’. While witnessing the criticism and reactions that Schiele encountered because of his erotic paintings, the film also shows how the artist sacrifices his life and love for his art in the late stages of his life. The 2016 film cast in Austria, Luxembourg has many awards.
